Time to update the Browse by Tag dropdown?

Hey, the tag dropdown has the most popular tags, so until there are about 800 2015HackadayPrize projects tagged, it won't show up automatically. I'll see if we can get it added manually. Cheers.

Thanks @Jasmine!

I'm glad I read this. I had my project tagged under "HackadayPrize2015" and was wondering why there was only one other project... I was like, "Man, competition is gonna be light this year!", lawls everywhere.

Let me tweet or publish this stack page on facebook or google plus, because I can :D I wonder when that was added... anyway, this tag thing needs to be taken care of! Anyone inspired for a project yet?

ZOMG SOCIAL SHARING BUTTONS THANX DAVE I WAS WAITING FOR THOSE!!111!!

Closest I've come is some kind of portable opacity analyzer for crowdsourcing smog analysis, but I haven't thought details too much. Ideally it'd be mostly smartphone based--maybe using the built-in camera as a detector with an appropriate app, that kinda thing. Calibration is still an open question. I work with industrial opacity monitoring systems and it's not a trivial measurement. What about you?

My reply to Sophi's PM regarding the contest pretty much said, "I need to finish up my HaD Prize 2014 project along with a bunch of other stuff, but maybe I'll submit something in a few months..."

With all those smartphones out there and some clever apps one can surely get some innovative stuff running. I've seen a TEDtalk recently, where they used smartphones as an alarm system against illegal logging. I also like the open spectrometer stuff from http://publiclab.org/wiki/spectrometer and the anemometer called vaavud, where they used the internal compass and a wind wheel with a magnet that was plugged into the headphone plug - 40 euros for "2 plastic spoons and a magnet" still seem too high, although the magic is in the app. The "turn your camera into a pulse meter" was great too. Repurposing the existing hardware without having to add anything but software is a plus point, I guess.
I'm overwhelmed with that whole "change the world"/"something important" theme and also have some projects I really want to work on further. Some ideas or problems will probably be solved sooner by teams of experts in the field, but I do believe in the one-man underdog phenomena.

I feel the same way Dave. A little overwhelmed with the "change the world" thing, not that I'm not on board with that, but if feels like well established teams will dominate here. I am hoping for a one-man underdog to win, but I do that for everything ;)

Will there be separate tags for 2014 HaD Prize and 2015? Unofficial statistics gathering is easier if they aren't mingled : )

Looks like they're at 66 projects so far. Time to update your Unofficial Statistics page?
