I live in a desertic place of the country, so the water is limited, usually we just get 4-5 hours of water daily. People usually have water tanks (called here "tinacos") installed on the roof for storing enough water for the day. The problem is you have to either go up to the roof to check the water level or just guess it if you want to do some water intensive activities (like laundry).

This gives the water level in 25% intervals from 0% to 100% and is conveniently installed inside the house with a cable all the way up to the water tank.
  • 1 × Atmega328 Atmega328P with Arduino Bootloader
  • 6 × 10K resistor 10K resistor
  • 1 × LED Bar 10 level LED bar
  • 6 × Screw terminal 5mm 2 screws terminal
  • 1 × 7805 5V regulator

Your project is super amazing. To maintain water temperature is essential when you are using tankless water heater. Setting of temperature depends on the inlet water temperature and the temperature you want. Im purchasing an older RV that I plan on geeking up and they sell tank monitors that come with a 2 wire stick to the outside of the tank sensor strips. Check out SeeLevel II. You might be able to use the sensors or whole system. Its only 299 for the system and it can hook up to LP sensor to monitor LP gas tank. The sensors are also very cost effective.

It's an interesting project, in my previous job at a research center I met some people working on a similar polymer based sensor for monitoring moisture in great lengths of ground. Seeing the sensor in your link seems like something very similar.

What's your favorite water monitor so far?

I made my project mainly thinking to just solve a problem in my home cheaply, but I do plan on making better versions in the near future

That's a fascinating way of solving your water problems! As you may already know, I too am interested in monitoring my water. One of the many affordable water level sensor that I have searched out for can be found here: http://vegetronix.com/Products/AquaPlumb/

This one interests me, for it supposedly works in any liquid not just water. It also is supposed to give exact measurements as to what the level of the water is.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the various applications of this sensor!
