This robotic platform is being used as the base of a semi-autonomous and remote controllable sensors platform. With an on-board raspi and RTL-SDR dongle paired with an antenna along with a wifi chipset, this platform becomes a self-positioning & RF-mapping crawler proof-of-concept. Along with quadrature encoders on the tread motors and IR sensors, this robot is intended to map out a location in both the visible and RF spectrum, and provide a mobile RF node; either configured as an RF mapper reporting back to a computer / recording locally on SD, or as a mesh network node, running something like open-mesh.org. The idea is to be able to deploy such a device and have it find an ideal location for whatever its RF mission, optimally spaced between any other nodes that exist.
