Its been a long time coming, but we have finally secured the space. We haven't yet been given the keys as the owners are still doing some final work on the place, but we are very very close now.

We took a wander over today to check it out again and start planning how the space will be laid out. Lots of photos below.

We've also laid down some of the plans for how we're going to use the space initially. Nothing is yet set in stone, but we're trying to do something a little different with the space. SupplyFrame will be funding the rent and helping to bankroll the initial setup costs, this is really awesome as it means we can hit the ground running.

The plan in the general sense is to create a multi-use space for designers, artists and engineers to come together and create awesome things. As such we want to ensure the space has a welcoming well designed feel to it to help encourage more people from other disciplines than just hackers. This will require a bit more design work up front but we think we have the right contacts to make that happen.During the week we should have the space open during business hours most days, with a member of our staff covering the space. When staffed the space will be open for all to come and hangout, no membership required but you will need to sign a disclaimer if you want to use any of the equipment.

For those who want to use the space outside of working hours we'll be doing an invite only basis to begin with while we figure out how the space will run in off-hours. There'll be a nominal membership fee just to ensure you are committed, and there'll probably be discounts for students too!

While we get all this up and running we will probably start hosting some meetups and other workshops and events to get the ball rolling, so if you have ideas for an appropriate event please give us a shout and let us know and we'll see what we can do.

In the meantime we're going to start collecting together a final equipment list so that we can begin laying out the space, much fun to be had ahead! We don't have a huge budget but we'd like to get a few big pieces of equipment like a laser cutter and large format CNC. If you have any suggestions for equipment you'd like to see in the space then let us know now.

I'd love to help support this project. Can you drop me a line?

Would love to see a desktop injection molder and a vacuum former. Lathe and a mill, maybe a small welding setup?
