    VSFDC
    VMEbus SCSI/Floppy Disk Controller

The VFDSC board provides both floppy disk and SCSI control, and provides an exceptionally low-cost foundation for VMEbus development and target systems.

VFDSC provides a standard SCSI controller port for control of up to eight SCSI devices (such as hard disks and tape drives), plus an independent floppy disk port capable of controlling up to four 5.25" or 3.5", 40 or 80 track double-sided, double-density floppy drives. The ports can generate either switch-defined or software-programmed interrupt vectors on any of VMEbus' seven levels, for ready compatibility with existing software. The floppy disk port can be used in either polled or interrupt-driven mode. The SCSI port features a bank of LEDs which display the status of all the SCSI lines. Further features include an eight-way DIL switch which can be read by the host CPU to provide status information such as the characteristics of the boot-up drive, and three front panel LEDs indicating accesses to the SCSI and floppy drive channels, and the state of the SYSFAIL line.

The board implements a VMEbus slave interface with disk I/O routed through two front panel-mounted connectors (standard 50-way for SCSI and 34-way for floppy). These connectors are duplicated on the board as PCB-mount connectors, providing flexibility in routing cables when system building.
