Caption CERN, win a prize!

Week 25: 7/22/2015 - 9pm PDT 7/29/2015

We're not kidding when we say CERN scientists and engineers really get into their work. Check out at this CERN scientist looking down at his.. uh, experiment. We're not sure exactly what this device is. There is a sealed chamber, but is it a vacuum, or some sort of specialized atmosphere for the research this scientist is working on? Either way, he seems very interested in whatever is happening inside this box!

So what's happening here? High energy physics, or some new coffee maker?

You tell us!

This week's prize is once again a Teensy 3.1 from The Hackaday Store.

Add your humorous caption as a comment to this project log. Make sure you're commenting on this contest log, not on the contest itself.

As always, if you actually have information about the image or the people in it, let CERN know on the original image discussion page.

In his youth, we can see Baron Von Rotum (or Von Rotten, as his co-workers called him) just beginning his experiments using DIP. The small cage was the perfect size to fit his co-workers' rolled up comic books in order to slowly lower them into the tank below. He could almost hear the screams from the toons as the ink disolved off of the pages...

Even after meticulously sealing the chamber, Jack, dumbfounded, is staring at an empty hamster wheel. He kept telling his cohorts that his new vertical hamster wheel generator was reaching 99.99998% efficiency levels, but every time he went to show them, the hamster disappeared.

Willy was never quite right after the "accident". He became obsessed with candy, specifically creating an everlasting gobstopper. Here he is pictured with one of his earliest prototypes to make such gobstoppers.

Just great... I forgot to flip the X and Y axis in the assembly drawing and now the portal is welded shut and no way to fix it.  Where did Dr. Gordon Freeman wandered off with the trusty crowbar?

At CERN we use a VAX for brewing beer because it's much cooler than using Arduino like anybody else; even if I'm still looking for a place where I can put the VAXBI I/O board for it

Scientists use gamma radiation in attempts to increase penis size.  Though successful, the resulting green coloration was an unfortunate side-effect.

CERN invented the Kick in the Groin bot that was going to be the next hot trend for the Youtube generation. Unfortunately no one wants to be the video test subject., so the project kind of went nowhere.
