Quelab is Albuquerque’s hackerspace. Our mission is to foster and sustain an environment that promotes creativity, invention, and collaboration at the intersections of science, culture, art and technology. We support people inventing, learning, tinkering, and conducting citizen science. We host two open nights a week where we open our doors to the public for tours and tinkering, held on Sundays and Tuesdays from 7:00pm – 10:00pm. (like an open house, but more hands-on)

  • Door Of Fame

    Geoff Nicholson06/29/2015 at 18:09 0 comments

We've started a little tradition at our current location, when we get hackerspace swag, we hang it on the door in the entranceway (Room 42). Currently, we've got a handful of stickers we picked up from fellow hackerspace projects at Maker Faire Bay Area, promos from folks like Sparkfun and Inventables (we could use some HaD wrenches ;) and other groups we've participated with in the past.

Who will show up on our Door next?!

  • Solar Tetroon Kerfluffle

One of our members test-launched a Solar Tetroon (a tetrahedral-shaped hot-air balloon using solar-thermal power for lift), and it got away from him. Calls to the Air Force and FAA got the news to show up and do an interview about the flying diamond.

  • Fourth Anniversary

    Geoff Nicholson07/24/2014 at 19:18 0 comments

Quelab just passed the date which we signed the lease on our original location, four years ago.  We moved in on 12 August 2010, and have grown so much from there.

Now ensconced in our second location, a 6000+ sq ft warehouse, office, classroom, we enter our fourth year going strong.
