Black background and white text = eyes pain

Is there any hacker out there who could make a browser plugin to make Hackaday less painful, or do you have any suggestion?

This is a pain. Some people think if they use black background they are hackers. For some people, the black background doesn't work.

Also the dark grey hyperlinks are unreadable, and the 'dark yellow' page elements nearly so.
Come on Hackaday, this is a serious UI snafu.

does highlighting the text help? (white on blue)

As someone else already pointed out, it's scientifically proven that reading white on black on a monitor is less painful to the eyes. Example: I always work with black background on Eagle CAD (you can see that on my schematics and layouts images in the projects). Anyway, every OS or browser should have the "invert colors" option under accessibility settings.

Do you mean in the long run? I really feel immediate discomfort when reading white on black. It doesn't happen with black on white. In any case, I need to keep brightness low.

Yeah I do mean in the long run, but you can also feel short-term effects. Try one day with black on white, and a day with white on black. You should actually feel your eyes less tired.

If you are using OSX, check on "invert colours" in Accessibility control panel may work...?
