Resource or tutorial on making a custom clock & gearset that responds to web information?

How could i make a clock that responded to updates from the blockchain and shifted based on the block height? I have played around with a widget of sorts to display on a small screen rather than physical gears and hands but it seems far more difficult as I'm a rather amateur coder. Any assistance and/or direction would be greatly appreciated.

You have your mind focused on the final goal, but you need to learn each component individually and then put it all together.
This isn't a definitive list, or necessarily the right one for you, but following it will get you the result, if you persevere:
First, research how to make an LED blink on an Arduino. This requires very basic programming.
Then, pick up a NodeMCU off AliExpress, and look into how to use it (the chip on it is called the ESP8266) with the Arduino environment. This is like a wifi-enabled environment.
Then research how to pull information from the APIs on the web.
Then use that information to blink an LED.
Then run a servomotor from NodeMCU.
Then use the info to control your servo.
Build your mechanical system.
Combine them.
Post project log.
Smoke trees.

my next step should be figuring out how to pull information from APIs, I
hadn't thought to hit that one first but without that piece, the
mechanical and LED indicators are arbitrary. This will help me get
started on the smaller parts. Thanks
