PCB Painting Large Pieces

@David I. Herman made some impressive new #PCBPainting pieces, demonstrating subtleties in shading and Art Nouveau inspiration, precision produced by @oshpark

We are trying to figure out what direction to take this blend of technology and art -- should we offer pieces for sale, or offer a service for making your own pieces from your own artwork, for instance. We're certainly going to continue to explore it from a technology and art creative point of view. If you feel inclined, please take a moment to leave a comment, we are interested in your feedback!

First up is the the Origambee. The gold and the shading in the background really came out well.

As I teased before and Doz blabbed in his video (I saw that), the next piece is "She Bears the Gift of Renewable Energy" From Doz:

"Beginning with another of Alphonse Mucha’s arrangements I have attempted to carry it forward in a more modern setting. Today’s empowerment of women, their part in being present in their lives,
carrying the torch of love, self-determination and as bearers of an unending fight for freedom. We need renewable energy to survive and the theme is even part of the torch bearing Statue of Liberty lighting the way to America the land of the free. It is not to be taken lightly – this is the dawn of what a species goes through to be a Type I civilization. Much love fellow humans, much love. "

Another tease from before, "The Sweet Smell of Success". From Doz:

"Here is a successful new age woman, empowered to realize her own dreams and wishes. Tattooed and pierced, stylish and graceful, enjoying a puff. Head bandana, long head jewelry I have just invented from scarfs, and a loose fitting slash cut cape. Lovely designer bag, covered in hearts. Ah time enjoy the 'Sweet smell of Success.'"

Finally, the Heart of Gold

Awesome images. I guess the guys at the PCB manufacturer who see boring technical PCBs all day long, are thinking "wow, wtf?" and creating some for themselves :-)

This reminds me that I played with PCBs more than 10 years ago :-D

we're spoiled by todays technology :-P

More than ten years ago is a lot of years ago! Good looking stuff. I think we're starting to see a variety of techniques applied to the medium.

yes, we are spoiled !
The above "picture" was developed by hand, the quality wasn't great... but it's a hack ! :-P

Niiiice. At some point, I expect to be playing around with crosshatching, like this:

I've also done some lasercutting of old 16th century woodcuts, to excellent results:

The design constraints are pretty much the same - Limited palette, no half-tones, etc

I saw your Green Eggs and Ham board earlier -- nice stuff!

I think that woodcut and limited color lithograph art work well with the constraints of the medium.

See if you can sneak another color out of silkscreen + soldermask + copper in your palette. Slightly different shade, you can see that in the background of Origambee. Plus the slight variation in thickness gives you some depth.

Immortalised :-O

Thank you Blake and David, and much respect to OSHPark for the technology to do it. We are honoured indeed.
