so I found my answer. Thanks for all the help.
Are you sure? yes | no
You could ask the guys from SkyNet 3D Firmware...
They modifiying the Marlin FW for the Anet A8. https://www.facebook.com/skynet3ddevelopment/
Depending on what features you want ( or need), you might even be able to take a simple driver and adapt it. The original code used for my 3D printer was based on Arduino code for a 2D drawing machine. The code is on GitHub referenced from https://hackaday.io/project/13420-rigtigs-big-3d-printer (although the final working version was on a USB that disappeared). If you want to follow through on that route, and you need assistance, just send me a message.
ask @Whosawhatsis. That guys knows his way around marlin and mods.
Thanks for the reply. I sent him a msg.
I assume you've already looked under Configuration_adv.h where there's an option to utilize the second extruder driver/motor as a second Z motor? As far as running this motor independently of your Z axis I'm not sure, but that's a good place to start.
Look in the code there and maybe tweak it a little, and also enable one of your empty endstop connections under Configuration.h.
Yeah. Been looking at the documentation trying to see what can be done with the config.
