Internet of Useful Things

Both of them are intended to help people focus on their IoT application by not having to worry about the power supply of their device. But neither of them are really IoT projects on their own. They don't solve some problem in the world by using IoT, they solve problems when making an IoT device which may then solve a real world problem.
So does it make sense to submit these to the IoT round? If "solving a problem when making IoT devices" is not something the judges will be looking for, I'd rather not pollute the contest with pointless entries.

Thanks for the feedback guys. You are right, I should let the judges decide whether they think the projects fit the IuT category or not. I probably should add some IoT verbiage to their descriptions though. :)

I'm also not a judge, but my opinion would be to enter them. What's the worst that could happen, you don't win? If you don't enter them you sure won't win, so you have nothing to lose. Go for it. As for pointless entries, they always get them anyway, and as far as I'm concerned it's up to the judges to weed them out, not us. Lol.

I am by no means a judge and I have very little clue on how projects are going to be judged. But I would want want them to be part of the IuT contest. Division of labour and reuse is a good thing IMHO. While I am not as sure about the LiFePO powered Pi as the runtime will probably limits its use for IoT applications the solar powered one clearly belongs in the IuT contest as powering remote stuff is one of the main issues with the IoT.
