Feedback for "failed" HaD Prize entries
Simon Merrett wrote 09/11/2017 at 17:58 • 1 point@Mike Szczys and @Benchoff , I know that not getting taken forward in the HaD Prize != failure but is there any constructive feedback, even notes (and happy for it to be public), where there were doubts over taking an (my) entry forward? Even confirming that it met the minimum standard for consideration would be useful.
It's great that you give so many opportunities to enter in future rounds and years but without knowing about potentially easily addressable issues in previous entries, the hard work of development for a future submission could be wasted. Thanks

Elecia on Embedded FM has talked about this a couple times - Unfortunately, judging is a ton of work as it is, more than you would expect.
See her article here, talking about how she offered to do exactly that for a few people last year:

@Jarrett thanks for the link! Anyone else reading this might also want to click on the link within Elicia's post on how to win the HaD Prize! in a particular year.
I appreciate the effort that individual detailed feedback requires, so I don't want reams of notes, but something must have differentiated the "unsuccessful" projects from those which got through. Perhaps there was one tip per entrant (who asks for it) that could be a really constructive help in taking a project forward for the benefit of others (which is what many HaD Prize entries are trying to do.
Even a "you did/didn't meet the minimum criteria" would be useful. The rules to the prize are simple but I often find I've misunderstood things which I believed I had correctly interpreted.
