Can anyone recommend very strong EMF-generating appliances or devices?

People here might know about the CRT-TV's, even small ones, creating very strong fields that are also modulable from the screen display. You can see this in action by searching for "CRT Drums" or "CRT Telecaster" and i've only got one problem being in europe, it's very difficult to find mini displays that are PAL 50Hz and support composite/rca. I got 3 big crt tv's already, but they are very heavy even though they work great. So in the meantime, I'm doing other DIY music projects.

What other appliances can you think of that produce strong EMF/electromagnetic field (can be picked up by a simple coil, or SW radio), that is modulable like a CRT TV screen? I found that AC-powered appliances may have more chance of being suitable, however, DC-powered devices could be great to make portable electromagnetic music.

Don't be afraid to tell me about the most basic things, i'm a beginner. 

i'm in the Electronicos Fantasticos project, however very new to electronics and DIY stuff, and also isolated from their engineers (creating a new branch in France, they are originally Japanese).
