Codebender.cc question
Muriel Green wrote 12/06/2017 at 15:37 • 0 pointsI've volunteered to teach a children's class on jewelbots using chromebooks. If anyone can help me figure out how to install the jewelbots board on codebenders, I would be so very appreciative. I'm trying to upload this https://jewelbots.github.io/arduino-library/package_jewelbots_index.json,https://jewelbots.github.io/arduino-firmware/package_jewelbots_firmware_index.json,https://jewelbots.github.io/arduino-friendship/package_jewelbots_friendship_index.json to this https://codebender.cc/boards , but I keep getting this "Error: File does not have the required structure."

I can see how the links would be confusing. To be clear, I am trying to use the custom boards from STEP 3 of here https://jewelbots.com/pages/support in the page on codebender that looks like this when logged in https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uy_IBgD84HPf0BEl4oY94U-e5JXUwoSP/view?usp=sharing . Steps I have taken include: I saved the json files as a .txt files and uploaded, but got the "Error: File does not have the required structure." I also tried using the board file from Jewelbots' github here https://github.com/Jewelbots/arduino-firmware/blob/master/jewelbots_firmware_update_v116/boards.txt , but got the same error. I think I've done as much solo troubleshooting as I can without more information about how to correctly format this file and what type of data it should contain. I would be especially interested to see any example of a correctly formated custom board file.

those are three separate URLs to json files. In the desktop version of arduino ide one pastes them in as a single line (separated by commas as written above) which enables the custom jewelbots board. However the web app version of arduino ide does not have a custom boards feature. All I know about codebender.cc is that it allowed me to pay $10 / month for the custom boards feature and $20 / month for the unique classroom URL as of December 2017.

Hi, Muriel. Typo in the text of the links you provided links to a non-existent page. Try editing and make sure you put a space after the commas.
I thought Codebender.cc was shutting down on Nov 31. Do you mean https://edu.codebender.cc/ ?
