DEFCON 201 is proud to announce that on March 10 we urge everyone in the Hudson County and surounding NYC-NJ area to attend our NJ Makers Day festival at the Liberty Science Center!
New Jersey Makers Day is a statewide celebration of making and maker culture that takes place every March in the Garden State. The primary goal is to enhance community engagement and facilitate connections among New Jersey residents by exploring new and interesting opportunities for community-wide education, entrepreneurship and hands-on learning experiences.
During this statewide celebration of all kinds of makers, the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City will host maker groups with a wide range of specialties: LEGO robotics, internet security, coding for fun, retro tech from the 1950s to 1990s, a Bitcoin ATM machine, and more.
Make a picture frame, learn to fix a bike, compose an original 8-bit digital tune. It’s a full day of hands-on fun!

Troxes: Building in Three Dimensions

:..>In this workshop, learn to build three dimension shapes using Troxes. Inspired by the way a computer renders 3D forms, Troxes are based on the triangle, the most simple of polygons, and arguably the most elegant. Each Trox is an equilateral triangle, designed to connect to each other, as the parts mirror each other perfectly. Not only do the components press fit into simple volumes, but they once again provide a press fit connection to build upon each other. Connecting Tetras to Octas iteratively can produce forms and structures more in the vein of Gaudí than Lego. This is a great way for students to explore phsycial 3D space, learn real world phsyics and archetectural design in a safe enviroment.
