SPI flash chip recommendations please
Simon Merrett wrote 11/15/2018 at 08:50 • 0 pointsTrying to make a SAMD21 based board, compatible with arduino and circuit python. The latter really needs a flash chip and many of the cypress (spansion) ones in existing boards are not recommended for new designs. Others, especially many winbond ones, are 1.8V. Does anyone care to share details of their go-to flash chip of 1MB to 8MB size range that's in a reasonable size package (eg SOIC 8) and runs at 3.3V?

I used Windbond W25Q64 for a couple of projects with very good results.

@Oriol Casamor thanks!

MX25R6435FZAI is a great low-power 3V3 SPI NOR flash. MX25L12835FZNI is also very nice. I really like Macronix chips for their ultra-low power.

Thanks Kris, that's exactly the kind of tip I was hoping for.
