Media outlets will spin news negatively or positively depending on the investments of the hedge funds they're associated with (often short bets much to the behest of Elon Musk). This is why news about the economy flip flops all the time on outlets like Marketwatch.
If it's an innovation not associated with FAANG (Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Alphabet's Google) or other renown publicly traded company odds are it won't be on main stream media.
But looking on Leap Motion's wikipedia, I guess they could sell it retail via Best Buy and Amazon. Could write to journalists interested in those two and get it marketed that way.
