Spygear video Trakr compiler
olsen wrote 04/20/2019 at 16:58 • 1 pointA friend gave me an old spygear video "trakr." It looks like a pretty capable device with a number of nifty features. Sadly, there is next to no documentation. https://www.instructables.com/id/Hacking-the-Spy-Video-Trakr/ suggests that at one time there was a c compiler for it.
Does anyone know where I can find a compiler or other technical information on this cool device?

The makefile at the instructables site indicates that the compiler is gcc for ARM and even names the ARM CPU model. Of course there may be some product specific files. Good luck.

It looks like it has some binary blobs n' stuff in the libraries. It'd be cool to get linux on somthing like this.

I found a repo on GitHub that might be useful.

It looks like Trakr used an ARM processor of some kind.
The gcc arm compile toolkit might work.

The comments of that instructable has what looks like a really detailed guide to it, as well as the compiler it mentions. This was the link: https://figshare.com/articles/Wild_Planet_Spy_Video_TRAKR_Software_and_Documentation_Archive/928249

Sidenote - I think it's super cool that the designers of that toy put the website for the hacking community (trakrhakr . com - you can find it through web archive) right next to the programming header for inquisitive kids/adults to find. Imagine being 11, taking apart your toy to see how it works and find that you can reprogram and hack it. That could be life-changing.
