There is plenty of opportunity to make it profitable. I'd imagine vendors would kill to spotlighted on a site that would be the central hub of all 3D printing. Same for youtubers, streamers, fabricators, software developers, etc etc.
I think it should be rebuilt from the ground up. With proper development and capacity considerations there isn't any reason it couldn't outcompete thingi.
