Hacking Project Ideas

Some of the ideas the professor gave was breaking into cars by relaying the signal or locating someones whereabouts by reconstructing the image in the reflection in their eye. This project doesn't have to actually be done by me, but the process and tools needed need to be outlined in detail. I would prefer something that I could actually accomplish, but is still impressive. Thanks.

There is a good option, you could use a cheap software defined radio (there are projects right here using a usb tv tuner) to record the signals sent by remote control of a car key, garage door and so and then play them again using some transmitter, or another software defined radio like the one using a usb to ttl serial adapter, or even a usb to vga adapter. All those are projects already available.

Re-creating keys from photos . For example someone showing their new house-key on facebook. Or a photo you took of your professors keychain (-;
The car idea, but with garage door openers.
Identifying people based on the SSID probe requests their phone sends out.
Building a jammer to jam a wireless home security system.
Note that all of these things have been done before, but that pretty much any idea. Also make sure you don't break any laws (too much).
