Hi, you should not power the watch by the VCC pin by exceeding 3.3V, same as for the Arduino Pro Mini. The coin cell holder I am using on final product has a kind of mechanical reverse polarity protection. Thanks for pointing that out! Link to my Hackaday project is included on Indiegogo.

Thanks for your tips on shorting the LDO on the OLED module. Do you have any concerns about powering from VCC with 5V and damaging the SSD1306? Does the mechanical format of your cell holder make you think reverse polarity protection is not required?
Also, you may want to include a link to your HaD.io project as well as the indigogo link, as I imagine people are interested in the technical details.
