Idea - when commenting on the blog, link to your .io profile
Alex Rich wrote 03/09/2015 at 15:36 • 1 pointCan't remember if this has been brought up already, but there would be a lot of advantages if people commented on the blog under their .io projects user name. It just occurred to me that I could do this by pasting a link to my .io profile in the "website" field and this would basically do it, but I never remember. Why not make it an option that you can set by default? This way when someone makes an interesting comment, you could look up more about them, maybe check out their projects or contact them directly with a question. Just an idea.
Another thought, when you reference people on the blog in brackets -> [Alex] for instance, might be nice if this was a link to their .io profile if they have one. I'm sure this is something you guys have thought about, but just a few ideas.

Cool, I know there are many things on the to do list.
I assume the name linking could just be up to each hackaday blogger to attach, should be easy enough for the tips that are submitted through the projects tip line form. BTW I just accidentally resubmitted my thermal insert press project to the tip line, disregard.
I don't mind the comment system as is, I just think if you made it easy to set the website to your .io profile many who had not thought about doing that would do it.

It's a good idea, and whenever we get around to re-doing the commenting system, I can't imagine an objection to this idea.
The rest of a revamped comment section... I'm going to be quoting Madison and Montesquieu and Tocqueville in those discussions. That's going to be hell.

Haha. Will be interesting to hear what you have planned. It will be great, better to have users who care enough to be a pain in the ass right?

Yes, complete agreement there. The reality of doing it - especially when linking to non-.io projects - is daunting, but it's at least a goal.
Actually, come to think about it, there's the issue of the first link in a blog post going to the actual build.... This is harder than I originally imagined.

some of the cool ones already do. There's no enforcement, though.... we really, really need a better commenting system on the blog.
