I got inspired to design a chair about a year ago, had about 4 pages of notes, and even started getting hardware for the build.

IMO, the best chair would place the person in the "zero gravity" position, which is the position a body normally takes in zero gravity (per the NASA study, that I can't find at the moment). It's the position where the muscles and ligaments are most comfortable, and can be held for the longest period. Lots of high-end chairs are based on this principle.

Next, mount speakers left and right of the head so the person has good stereo audio, and three monitors: one center, one left, and one right. I figured a knee-operated switch would "swap" the center monitor signal for a side one, but you could still glance over at the sides without swapping. Tap the knee to the left and the center image is swapped with the left image, tap to the right and the center image is swapped with the right.

Then I got into ergonomic keyboard design, with a non-querty layout that was less stressful and more efficient.

Enclose it for sound dampening, and add quiet fans for ventilation with heating/cooling control.

Basically, a sensory deprivation chamber with internet access. I could get very productive in that type of environment!

Very interesting stuff, haven't heard of the zero gravity position before, but definitely know the feeling :) I'm not sure I could work in it, when it is too relaxing, but a position/mode like this would be a neat feature for power naps.
