Plan B: Hook up remote to arduino GPIO

A project log for Automation - 434MHz Arlec power switches

Hooking arlec RC power switches up to modern home automation systems

This worked for one switch (on and off). THe arduino uno is 5V and the remote is 3V - one i connected all 4 (actually 8) switches, the voltage got to high (4V across the gnd return)

I'm going to need to level shift this.

Hiya, if they are pulling to ground, resistors should be fine... Maybe 1K should suffice or you could start with 4k7 and work your way back,..OK, good idea on the 3.3V on the UNO, I have a mega with a breakout board that isnt doing much so I might use that..Have to get up to Bunnings today so I can get some value out of Good Friday :-)

You can buy 8 channel level shifters from Aliexpress... I have some comming, thanks for the tip.  I've got to get to Bunnings tomorrow to grab a pack.  Do the switches "switch to ground" or to rail ?  Using optos is probably an overkill but an alternative :-)  I've also bought the 5v to 3.3v regulators to power the remote....

Ii think all I need is 8 resistors on each wire to the uno's gpio.   (there's already a 3V output on the uno I'm using)

The switches I removed were pulling it to ground.

Hopefully i get this all working during easter. I have the comms to the uno board sorted already.
