First Ill admit, its rather useless and will only gain a few degree of cooling and won't really improve performance. Its not about that though, its the fun/cool factor that inspires these small projects. No, it won't win hack-a-day prize, but who has seen a peltier cooled Pi? I haven't, until I made one the other day.
I'm going to make a small board that will plug into the GPIO of the Pi. It will need to be powered externally but will allow the pi to enable and disable a small fan and a small peltier element. I had already made the heatsink mount for this project some time ago, and I'm just going to take it a step further.

The project was just started on Pi Day - I put together a small experiment to see if it would actually cool at all. Here is a video of the experiment.

Next step is to make a PCB to control the fan and the peltier via the pi.
