EMP Generator

45V chinese magnetic field generator

Similar projects worth following
Chinese circuit who emit a magnetic field causing interference to electronics.
There is no really an usefull way to use to this circuit, maybe just to demonstrate the principe of magnetic field and the classic fluorescent lamp demo who can be lighted without wiring.
overall alll it will do is damage your electronics.
Github can be found here:

I was browsing Aliexpress while i've saw this EMP generator article:

And how it is advertised:

What a nice way to annoy hams :)
When i received the package, i noticed that they removed the transistor info.

Oh common... you can use a 2SC2078, 2SC2166, 2SC2312, 2SC1972, 2SC1972, 2SC1921, 2SC1969, 2SC1945, any of those should be fine, circuit is very primitive.

Here is a close view of the PCB:

Back of the board:

There is almost nothing there, 4 resistors, 3 capas, one npn with erased reference...
Does this worth 18$ ?
Definitely not, and everything can be made from scrap parts...
Small coil and big coil:

Want really to DIY it ? ok here is a reconstruction.
Redraw of the PCB with Eagle:

Draw of a 3D model with SolidWorks to print a case:

Board is 22.90x42.00
Assembling the 45V batteries rig, voltage must be over 30v-45v max, be careful to don't hurt yourself.

3D Printed case result:

Do not hold switch, just click !

Note: Aliexpress take down regularly theses kinds of products.
Does it worth to buy one ?
No, don't, make it yourself.
Another example here on eBay, theses generators are ridiculously overpriced:

There is also tons of fake youtube videos about theses.
Some others fun EMP circuit can be found on my Github, they do the same things.

I would suggest you to have a look.

  • EMP Generators and slot machines

Just a small post to clear things related to all these urban legends and project comments.

An EMP generator would not 'increase' money when used near a slot/vending machine, it would just cause the machine to fuck up and die not to start adding money.

Vending machines / slots machines dont fail open otherwise you would just be able to unplug them and snacks would fall out.
Magnetic locks and physical dispensers are used to put out money, an EMP would cause failure of the electronics roughly the same as a power outage.
Additionally, solutions like this are used on modern machines:

The effects of an EMP on consumer electronics can be found here:

Related to the "Multifrequency EMP Generator" sold on marketplaces such as eBay or AliExpress they are all bullshit, their antenna is optimized for a single frequency, attempting to get multiple frequencies with that is like trying to talk to a space station with your garage door opener.

If you looks for hacking this kind of materials, just get a bus pirate from sparkfun and start to analysis trames, simple as that.

Hey @Xylitol, I'm interested on how would you increase the power of the EMP this devices generates?

Would you use different transistors? Or increase the voltage (e.g add more batteries in series)?

How do I charge the device without overshooting battery. It's reading 36V. It's an EMP NO.25 with 1 charger hole.

I wonder what would happen if you tested this near a slot machine??

an EMP would just cause the machine to fuck up and die not to start adding money contrary to all these urban legends.

No way. My cousin knows a guy who was at a casino once and overheard a card player talk about a guy who used an EMP to trigger jackpots.

emp is electromagnetic pulse and if it could make the tube lamp emitted so it's must have the frequency is near micro wave and i wonder is it would danger for the health?

magnetron ≠ emp generator

lantramnamcodon wrote 07/05/2016 at 01:43 point

i said it's same frequency, not it's the magnetron!and you will see the it's would not good for the health.

I'm from USA end regulations said all jammers so illegal also Emp generator. That's why I'm confused because this device don't destroy and blocked anything

Xylitol wrote 05/10/2016 at 15:09 point
check by yourself your country regulations concerning electromagnetic radiation but this should be OK everywhere.
This device generate a really lame field so i would be highly surprised if anyone would care.
of course after if you use it to destruct objects who's not your property etc.. you will have problems. (but that just common sense, it's like having a knife, it's ok to have one but depend of the usage you do)
