Camper Induction Cooker

Induction cooker, using a battery around 12 to 24V, like in a camper or car.

This inductive cooker is planned for heating up liquids like water or milk. It uses an induction heating circuit and will work as a battery powered device.

It can be used to keep the temperature of your coffee or tea, as there will be a wireless temperature sensor included. It can keep the temperature of your drink at a programmable temperature. Of course, a nice interface with an OLED and a capacitive input keyboard will also be included.

Due to the fact that this device will be powered by battery, only small amount of liquids can be heated, like a cup of tea.

Using

This device can be used with:

  • Every pot or kettle, which is useable with an induction cooker (as this will also one).
  • A heat resistance ceramic cup or kettle with a stainless steel disk. The disk will be provided later.

Programmable temperature, output power and a timer will be provided by this tool.

Temperature measurement system

The temperature will be measured in different ways, which is described here.

Using a metallic kettle or pot

The temperature will be measured at the bottom of the kettle. This is an inaccurate measurement, but should be ok.

A seperate temperature sensor will be provided later, to put it into the kettle and send the temperature via a wireless connection to the base. This one will be battery powered.

Using a ceramic kettle

Inside a stainless steel washer will be a NFC device, whic measure the temperature inside the liquid. This one is battery less.

Power Supply

As a power supply a battery with 12V up to 24V will be possible, like the power connector in a car.

  • 2 × BTN8982TA H-Bridge driver
  • 1 × CY8C4200 Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, DSPs / Multifunction Peripherals
  • 1 × Wuerth coil for inductive charging

    Have had some time to test a new version of the driver circuit. Testing a h-bridge driver with two Infineon motor driver BTN8982AT. Running at an input power of 12A at 13V and heating water. It looks as a possible solution.

    Pictures show a first version in my lab. It is used to test the coil and the power stage. Additional it is the test platform for the software.

    It shows that it can be possible to drive the system from a 12V accumulator.
