Description

The APC Back-UPS uses a proprietary cable to connect to a computer through USB. Instead of making the cable, I added a Type B USB connector instead. Any Type B USB cable will work! No more proprietary cables here!

Components

1 × Type B USB Female Connector
1 × Wires
1 × Protoboard
1 × Glue
1 × Solder/Soldering Iron

Step 1

Buy a USB Type B connector

Mark where the USB connector is supposed to go

Dremel out the hole and test the fit. Kepp dremeling until it fits properlyI actually installed the USB port backwards here. It should be flipped 180 degrees since the pins are currently pointing to the left and the should be pointing to the right.
