HOMEBREW MINIVAC 601 COMPUTER

Built this experimental version of the MINIVAC 601 computer from PDF's on the net. Time to completion about 4 months.

The MINIVAC 601 experimental was fun to build and often challenging with no real wiring diagram to work with. Getting the motorized dial to work was my biggest stumbling block. You can see it work on my YouTube channel. gort59
Thanks for looking.

Always wanted a Minivac when I was a kid when the two Digicomps and the Geniac my dad bought me became too easy.  Bravo for making your own!  Thoroughly enjoyed your Youtube demonstrations and hope you'll post more if this is still an ongoing project. Best.

Wow, fantastic build!

I really enjoyed the YouTube vids seeing this classic kit working.  I've seen the Paperclip Computer before, it's very, very impressive.   I'd love to make something like it myself.

I didn't know Shannon did a kit :-) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minivac_601

Nice build of a classic!  I didn't realize this machine was designed by Claude Shannon.  His Master's thesis (1937) was on doing boolean algebra with relays ... the idea showed up again in this design, I guess.
