Weather & plant monitoring station

Arduino controlled wifi weather station, with local database, dashboard and online controllable watering system.

Started a project to watch over my plants. After a lot of trial and error, managed to get my esp8266 working, both as server for remote controlling and pushing the data to my database.
The whole project is 3.3V based, with a 12V lead acid battery and a 5W solar panel.
The project also containes 2 soil humidity, an LDR, BMP280 pressure, 3 temperature, and 2 voltage sensor.

Server side is a xampp powered PHP/Mysql package, running 3 main scripts: One is for the dashboard for data display, another handles the pushed raw data and there is an ajax handler for remote controlling the arduino.

    After some modifications, the project is online again. The main problems with the project was the cheap modules from ebay failed miserably on long run. When the soil sensorts started rusting after one month, they became instable. The buck converter and a BMP280 sensor died. Fortunetly, the email warnings worked and i was able to save the ESP and the PRO mini.

    The version 2 is on the way, with properly designed PCB and mutch more reliable modules.

    The core problem with this project is the low budget, the chinese parts keeps failing. 3 soil sensors rusted out in a month, 2 buck converters failed and ruined the lead-acid battery. The solar charge controller never worked. The setup originally used 20mA on average, but after the parts started failing, it went up to 100mA. Im planning on using wall supply. After finishing the new case design, i will restart the project.

    On the good side, the tomatoes are growing well.

    Cheap ass chinese LM2596 power supply failing after running for a long time.

    As you can see on the image above, the measured voltage went up because the supplyied voltage changed from 3.3V on the Pro Mini.
