Feeling pissed off

A project log for Arduino Glasses a HMD for Multimeter

Building an HMD with no special parts, to make work easier and safer

I'm really feeling pissed off, when I see people using my designs and try to sell them as their idea.

This guy makes a nearly 100% copy of my Data Glass and only after I send him an email he added "inspired by Alain^s Projects". just inspired, really ???????

I think that's not the way open source should work. If you use the work of someone else, the minimum is to mention this person and set his website link in the description.

The only thing which calms me down, is that it is still my invention and other people will know it.

I got irratated that he blatantly misrepresented what the capabilities of that system are. good god those VFX imply HIGH RES COLOR display with perfect representation. LMAO as if

So sorry to hear about this, Alain. The little ****er! Unfortunately Creative Commons etc only goes so far. Most HaD'ers would ask permission before trying something similar, but outside all you can do is send him a cease and desist and then back it up with litigation.
Sadly this is what Open Source means now it has quality work like yours in it.
I hope he gets a Karmic Comeuppance for his pains, it feels awful when some monkey dirties your work with their paws...
OK, so there's a few copies of your idea floating around. Yours is still the original and the best.
If we all concentrate *really* hard at the same time, maybe we can make his hot-gun catch fire. He deserves nothing less... ;-)

I glad you saw him I just came from YouTube after clicking on a thumb nail of smart glasses that look oddly familiar. I like it how not only did he lie about it being his idea but there is no way he build it for "under 10 dollars"

I know. yesterday I was a little bit upset, but I am building stuff for my personal satisfaction and he will never have this feeling with this attitude.

That is a shame when there are those out here that just can't come up with something creative or innovative on their own, it's the same mentality I've seen from students buying term papers in order to "pass" exams.

I hear your anger and frustration about this.  It's a blatant rip-off of your project.  The only thing he demonstrated was that he *may* be competent to work on an assembly line building your designs :-)

But here's a slightly different perspective.  This kind of thing is the cost of open-source hardware.  You get some cheater trying to pass your design off as his.  It sucks. But, compare this to the cost of closed source hardware.  In that case, you have people (a) taking out patents on their design and stifling innovation and/or (b) keeping elements of the design hidden so that end users aren't free to use their own property in any way they wish.

It's unfortunate that you personally end up paying the cost for open development, but trust me, as a member of society that ultimately benefits from your efforts, I appreciate it :-)

Yesterday I was a little upset when I saw that there are people who simply sell ideas as theirs. He can make millions with it, I do not want his money but the recognition would have been nice.

Indeed ! I saw it on YT some hours ago. I thought: "Hey, he has done a (bad) copy !

Do not mind, there are billions of these people.

Nevertheless, there are still some people (me too!), and we do highly appreciate the work of the genius ones like you. You´re showing your work and efforts, you´re showing others how to tackle difficulties and inspire us. That´s something you can be really proud of! So do not mind the stupid. Being stupid is easy.
