Goliath Mk. II Hovers!

A project log for Goliath - A Gas Powered Quadcopter

A BIG Gas Powered Quadcopter

Over Labor Day weekend the assembly of the Mk. II vehicle was completed. The new vehicle was weighed and the current weight is 170 lbs, 50 lbs lighter than the previous vehicle. The first couple of tests were conducted and Goliath has hovered for the first time!

There is obviously a lot more to be done, but hovering is a big step in the right direction.

Also, if you're in the Portland area this weekend, come see Goliath at the Maker Faire!

Very awesome, i too want to congratulate you on this milestone, been following your project from the start and i was getting slightly worried you wouldn't be able to get it airborne, but yea, this is amazing, keep up the great work, even though it may not always seem/feel like it, your making history :)

Thanks for the awesome compliment! I was starting to get fatigued on the project since it took a while to get to this point. It was invigorating to finally see it airborne.

Thanks! I agree, it feels like it validates the basic concept. Now onto the details, like controlling it!
