for use with an older sound system in an elementary school

Similar projects worth following
for use with an older sound system in an elementary school by adding a stereo jack in place of the speakers and then using a patch cable to plug into the system .
Now I have done a rough connection job with a jack and removed the speakers, but it now will not turn on, need some help .
this is the first time i have posted to the IO site so forgive me if I'm doing it wrong lol
