08/13/2016 - Fixing little things
08/13/2016 at 19:46 • 0 commentsToday we have realised the leak was not fixed at all. As soon as we crossed the door, we saw the floor… I mean, our new pool, because it was covered in water.
Apparently, the duct tape could not contain the small flow of water inside the tube and from its right corner, it was dropping all night long.
So, we turn off the pump (which, by the way, is an aquarium type and whenever the water level is below the pump, it overheats) and started to clean the floor.
After dismantling the prototype, we bought special glue for PVC pipes. The purpose was to seal the right side. We looked for waterproof material and we chose a regular plastic. The idea was to fuse both materials together as an entire structure.
Unfortunately, the glue needs between six and twelve hours to achieve its maximum endurance.
On Monday we plan to assemble the whole prototype again and check our progress.

08/12/2016 - 2nd Prototype
08/12/2016 at 19:09 • 0 commentsWe bought a PVC tube of 75mm-diameter to test the material in which we'll build the ultimate structure. We drilled some holes of the size of cups and we put in some cuttings we had prepared before, with roots already grown. We bought a light and a timer to simulate daylight.
We built the second prototype to create a water sheet at the bottom of the tube (horizontally speaking). We left no slope this time. Apparently, It had a leak, which we fixed, probably. In any case, we'll see tomorrow the consequences.
We'll keep you updated! ;)

08/10/2016 - 1st Prototype
08/10/2016 at 14:43 • 0 commentsYesterday we went shopping and we tested the new pump. We took a few plants from the street (yes, you read it right. I took them while people looked at me. It was embarrasing).
First attempts were made to verify:
- the need of a slope,
- the capacity of the pump
- the flow (the slope and pump created)
- and the utility of dirt (or similar size material) as a support material24h later, I realized that the pump is enough, no slope is needed and the dirt is super dirty (so never again)
The plants looked a bit sick but they were for free so...
We'll keep you updated! ;)
