There are two goals for this project:

  1. First, design a device that can read and write the SPD flash, for backup and restoration. This has been done by others already (insert links here) and I'd like to reuse most of the infrastructure of #SPI Flasher
  2. Then, when data are safe, find ways (in software and hardware) to prevent any overwrite.
    This could be anything, such as a decoy chip on the SMB, cutting the write-enable pin...

It's one of my low-priority projects but this will remain in my thoughts as long as the situation is not solved for good.


Just after the attack, @Arsenijs pointed me to http://blog.zakkemble.co.uk/modifying-ram-spd-data so I bought the adapter (shown in the project's avatar picture).
