I've been 3D printing some replica models of famous outdoor sculptures, and I wanted to recreate the MLK sculpture in Atlanta called "Homage to King", by Catalan artist Xavier Medina-Campeny. (http://www.ocaatlanta.com/public_art/homage-to-king/) After doing some research on the sculpture, I figured out that 16GA sheet metal was the correct scale dimension for the size I had in mind (about 12 x 7 cm). So that meant I needed to cut this metal in an intricate pattern, with a fine kerf.Not having access to a water jet cutter, I decided to try using scroll saw blades meant for wood, with a hand-held saw. Amazingly enough, this worked! The secret is a light touch and steady progress. The blades don't last long, and I used 6 or 8 of them for this project, but they are cheap. Maybe 2 hours of cutting time total.
