Arduino is a great project! But it is so focused on beginners and non-programmers that it lacks some features more advanced programmers are used to have on modern environments

So, enters MariaMole, an open-source Arduino IDE focused on experienced programmers, but that beginners can also use.

the mariamole autocompletion is not so good (it just completes the words you typed before)
before that I suggest you sublime Stino plugin

you can also develop arduino projects in visual studio with full autocompletion
http://www.visualmicro.com/page/Arduino-development-plugin-for-Visual-Studio.aspx

and eclipse has a plugin for arduino too

Hello! We just started porting it. There's a project on github, but it doesn't have anything working yet. We'll need some more weeks to have a functional version
