Let's Start a New Adventure Together!

A project log for The New Mooltipass Mini BLE

We're back!

It's hard to believe the Mooltipass project was started nearly 5 years ago. Since then, we made 2 devices from the ground up (funded using Indiegogo and Kickstarter),  built Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera extensions,  made a Chrome App, turned it into an electron application and finally dropped it to build a brand new cross platform Qt-based Mooltipass companion software.  This wouldn't have been possible without all the open source enthusiasts from all over the globe who joined us to work on the Mooltipass ecosystem software, hardware, firmware and mechanics.

And now is the perfect time to embark on a new adventure, using all the experience we gained to provide a device that many customers asked for during these last years: a battery-powered password keeper (hopefully not only!) with USB & Bluetooth connectivity that supports Unicode.... while still being secure.

As you can imagine this is no small task as it does involve a complete hardware overhaul and lots of firmware parts that we haven't made until now.... which is why we need your help!

Here's a non-exhaustive list of the things future contributors may work on:

FIrmware:

Software:

Hardware:

The Mooltipass team currently has a few hardware prototypes, that we made to first make sure that nothing technical was getting in the way of this (very) ambitious project. We have a green light!

You may therefore expect in the coming weeks several posts about the technical details of our platform. This first post is here to make an official call for contributors... and here's the kicker: for this new device, we are planning to share our revenue with our contributors based on the amount of time they spent contributing (using colony.io and maybe trello).

Motivated? Come to talk to us on our hackaday.io channel and let's build a great device together!
