This Buckeye Burl custom guitar was one of the first that I built. It has a buckeye burl top and a maple back. I sketched out the design of the guitar body and made a template based on design elements from things that I liked about a Fender Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul, and the curl of a Mandolin. I added abalone dot inlays on the maple neck and burnt chrome covers for the pickups. It was the first guitar that I ever sold through a guitar store. It was purchased by Walter Becker of Steely Dan before he passed away. The name on the headstock (Booches) was the name of my dog. Due to the time-consuming process in making these guitars by hand (no CNC machine involved), I build between 5-7 guitar a year.
