I think it needs a bit more functionality to have the edge (pardon the pun) over a regular arduino

Thanks for entering the Hackaday Prize! A simple to build USB enabled arduino sounds like a good idea. Out of curiosity, why did you go with CDC over standard V-USB?
Don't forget to keep the updates coming - you have to do a couple of videos to be eligible for the prize.

V-USB does not support Arduino Serial monitor , and saving a space for code .
