Radomir asking for the LDO makes me think you could add some capacitors, maybe that helps.

Nice. The solder will flow better and form less of those snots if you use more flux. Is that a linear voltage regulator there?

yeah, but i think it's busted. i ran over it with the multimeter, and i'm getting output voltages of anywhere from .01 to 4 volts, bad, but even worse is that's not even enough power at the peak. it's a 6v regulator running from a 8 volt source

For large loads such as servos, you probably want to use a buck converter, not a linear regulator -- they waste much less power as heat. You can get ready modules easily. The RC hobbyists call them "ubec".
