Darth

With the exception of the motor and power supply, Darth is a 100% 3D printed automata of Darth Vader.

Similar projects worth following
While on a recent family vacation (all 26 of us), the wife and I took the family members to a variety of attractions, one of which was a museum with a fascinating automata. The kids and grandkids suggested I design and 3D print a version of the automata using Darth Vader as opposed to the generic figure of the museum piece, and "Darth" is the result.

While much smaller and less complex than the museum piece, Darth is still quite a challenge to print, assemble and align. The design incorporates 26 unique 3D printed parts (81 total 3D printed parts) and utilizes eight 3D printed turnbuckles, having both left and right hand threads, for fine tuning.

Yeah! Great to see an entry from you Greg. I've been following your YouTube channel for a long time and your work was an inspiration for launching this contest. Saw this one on there and it's certainly a fascinating mechanism... very cool to do it all with one motor. Looking forward to more info on how you came up with the design!

Hi Mike,

I must apologize for this very belayed response, I still haven't quite figured this place out.  I'm trying to set my account up for email notifications, hopefully that will happen "Real Soon Now".

Thank you very much!

Greg
