this project uses surface to surface soldering extensively. the opening in the board is used to solder 2 together making a link of the chain. for every 2 boards, it is one link in the chain. 120 boards is about the correct amount for a reasonable sized chain. medium run of 120 equates to about ~$56 should take about 3-4 hours of soldering to fully assemble.
