Cat Detector - Useless Machine

My 3 cats are skilled at meowing for food incessantly. This useless machine gives them a taste of their own medicine.

The purpose of my useless machine is primarily to give my cats a taste of their own incessant meowing for food between meals. When they approach the food bowl or meow near the food bowl, the machine meows back.

My major challenge I ran into with this project was with the sound detector I chose. The readings were all over the place. Sometimes the microphone was unable to detect noises and meows, sometimes it worked. The ultrasonic sensor works really well and is usually what triggers the cat statue to meow.

    Assemble Wave Sheild

    The wave shield kit should be assembled following the instructions posted here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-wave-shield-audio-shield-for-arduino/make-it

    Format SD card

    Continue to follow those directions to format your SD card for FAT.

  • 3
    Format Audio File using Audacity

    Follow the instructions above and use Audacity to format your audio file for use with the Wave shield.

    Copy the file to the SD card (It should be the only file on the card).

    Eject the SD card.

    Put it in the SD card slot on the Wave Shield.
