A project log for Jumbled Clock

Jumbled digits on clockface, but hands still point to the correct digits

Dusting this project off to continue making it more robust and reliable.

Wear

The hour hand is held in place by friction, when not nudged along. The plastic-against-plastic wore out pretty quickly, ie it became too loose. So I am hoping that plastic-against-metal will retain the friction fit (longer). Pity, the previous design was all 3D printed parts, making it easy for folks to make their own.

The next design will use an aluminum pipe for the stationary hour "axis". The hour hand will be still be 3D printed, but now with some clasp so there is a spring effect, or it is possible to add a metal spring/clasp to retain tension. The challenge is to make it elegant. (A more complicated idea is to make the hour hand hollow and put a ballpoint spring inside...)

Clockoduino

I need to finish this and use the board (previous log post). Yeah, I said that last year. And the year before that.
