This is a fun little project to use the "3 cent" MCU for an application it is actually well suited for: An intelligent 7 segment display. Each segment consists of a dedicated MCU to control data transmission and update of each segment. My intention is also to use this as a test bed for protocol design.

Unfortunately not. I assembled two on my own. The parts and PCBs can be readily ordered from LCSC and JLPCB for little money, but the assembly is a bit tedious. You won't even need a programmer for the STM32 on the free-pdk prog, since it comes with USB bootloader.

Do you know anybody selling the free-pdk programmer ready made yet? Somebody on the issues list talked about ordering a batch from Elecrow but no further word.
