2Platform Print Out
The platform was designed using Fusion 360. This is the STL used for the current Platform.
Download the Singing Bowl Platform in the files.
The print will take ~24 hours. I am using a Creality Ender V2 with PLA black filament.
3Print out gears
The gears will be required to get the stepper motor up to 30RPMs. These were printed using an SLA printer for higher resolution. The SLA print resolution is .047mm by default. There are 3 gears, 36, 18, and 12 tooth gears. This was so we can test with 1:2 and 1:3 ratios. In the end, I used the 1:3 ratio.
4Print out bowl rotation plate
The bowl plate is where the bowl will sit. The cushion the bowl sits on will be glued to this plate.
5Mount 12 tooth gear to bowl rotation plate
Using any 2mm diameter screw with fine pitch, attach the gear to the bottom of the plate. The bottom of the plate has a 1mm offset so the 36 tooth gear does not rub on the plate. The platform has an inset so the screw head will be flush with the plate.
6Mount Bowl Cushion to Rotation plate
The next step is very simple, just glue the singing bowl cushion to the plate with the attached gear in the previous step. If you do not have a cushion, any cloth rolled into a circle will work as long as the bottom of the bowl is not resting on the plate. This cushion allows the bowl to vibrate while not allowing it to fall of the rotation platform. It is common for these bowls to come with a cushion as a set when purchased.
7Mount bearing to rotation plate
Slide the bearing over the 12 tooth gear. Use a file to level the 12 tooth gear stem to the bearing.
8Mount the stepper motor.
Mount the stepper motor to the through hole in the base platform. I first lined up the center and drilled holes into the platform to mount the motor.
9Install the 36 tooth gear
Once the stepper motor is mounted. Place the 36 tooth gear over the stepper motor shaft.
10Install the servo
First, cut the servo connections near the end. Then feed the servo cable down the inside of the platform. The wires should appear at the bottom of the platform.
