I replaced my the fluorescent tube that was integrated in my kitchen with this RGBWW LED-strip. It can be controlled over Wifi by MQTT but also with the traditional wall-switch. If you turn it on and off/on again within 3 seconds it switched to the next preset. This way you won't need a remote control or app when you want to switch between warm-white and cold-white when working in the kitchen!

In Openhab (or any other MQTT-enabled interface) I can set white, warm white and color and store it to 1 of the 3 preset positions or load presets.

It also functions offline.
  • 1 × Wemos D1 Mini
  • 1 × RGBWW-Led Strip Choose the length that fits your need
  • 1 × AC/DC Adapter 12v 10a in mycase, depends on your ledstrip
  • 1 × DC/DC buck converter To drop the 12v to 3.3v for the Wemos
  • 5 × IRLB8721 and resistor

What are the three presets you selected?

I use them for warm-white, cold-white and a color. They can be changed through MQTT, I do that with OpenHab.

My kitchen has old fluorescents for under-cabinet lighting. Something like this would brighten things up. Thanks for the inspiration.
