It’s getting a bit dusty in here…

A project log for The Launchpad - A $2 Arduino Nano alternative

A near-Arduino Nano form factor and Arduino compatible board based around a "better" and cheaper AVR MCU (currently an ATtiny1616)

Hello again!

It’s been a month since I posted this project and I haven’t been active since. First things first - this project is far from dead. I’m not sure how regularly hackaday projects are supposed to be updated but personally I feel like too much time has gone by without me posting anything and I apologize. The pandemic has led me to focus on other priorities as of the moment but I still do work on the project when I have the time and motivation to do so.

There are actually a lot of things I’ve been trying out and some changes/additions that I plan to make - all of them of course still fitting within the $2 overall cost. One hurdle with development is that I still haven’t had a chance to let others try out the prototype and provide feedback (I haven’t even given these to my friends as my last year’s excessively delayed Christmas gifts lol). There might even be some design flaws that I haven’t noticed yet. To be honest, I probably won’t be able to reach this milestone for the next 2-3 months due to the pandemic. On the bright side, I’ve been modifying and iterating on the design based on my personal use and tests. I’ve also made more PCB designs from scratch that incorporate the planned changes and additions. I’ve actually been making some of these even before I posted this project and some of the changes were mentioned previously. These PCB designs, however, shall be the topic of a future post.

Lastly, a big thanks to everyone who has viewed, shared, and read about this project. I’m thankful and glad that a lot of people are actually interested in my work. It means a lot!
